Frequently Asked Questions
Good to know
Below are our most frequently asked questions.
When and where is my event?
Date, time, and location all vary per event. Please see your specific event's event details.
How much are tickets?
Price per ticket varies per event. You can see the price of the event on each event's event details page.
How do I pay for tickets?
You can pay for tickets right here on our website. On the event's page, use the ticket selector to choose how many tickets you need, then complete your secure checkout on the same page. No need to leave the site.
Is there a deadline for purchasing tickets? Can I just get my tickets at the door on event night?
We do not have deadlines for purchasing tickets. However, we strongly encourage purchasing tickets as early as possible please! Each event must have a minimum number of attendees depending on the venue for the event to feel lively and full. If we do not meet our minimum number of attendees by roughly 2 weeks before the event, we will cancel the event because we don't want to host an event we feel students won't enjoy because of too few attendees.
Who can attend my event?
This varies per event. Our events are faith-based, and we host events with homeschool families in mind, however our events are open to all (not just homeschool families). With that said, some events have age restrictions (like proms/homecomings), and other events do not (like Father/Daughter dances). Please see your specific event's event details for more information.
Will there be a professional photographer at my event?
Not at this time, unless you're a professional photographer and you want to volunteer! Students may bring their phones and take all the pictures they want. For some events we have a Photo Booth that students can use at their discretion.
What kind of music will be played at my event?
Music for the event will be provided by a professional DJ, who will play a variety of songs in a variety of genres. We take great care to have no profanity; radio-edits or clean versions of songs will be played.
Will there be anything to eat at my event?
We will have a variety of hors d'oeuvres, snacks, punch, and water available throughout the night for every event. We encourage attendees to eat dinner before their event however.
Will there be chaperones at my event?
Yes, we have chaperones and security at every event. Chaperones and security are selected from adult volunteers at the sole discretion of the Planning Committee.
Will there be a place for parents to wait or sit at the event?
Most event venues don't have separate spaces to accommodate waiting parents. We encourage parents of students who aren't old enough to drive to find something to do during the event, like go to a coffee shop or run errands.
What will happen if the event is cancelled?
We really strive to avoid cancelling an event, and we only do so if we absolutely have to. If we ever cancel an event, we refund all tickets directly, as soon as possible after the cancellation. You will never lose your money because we had to cancel.
What will happen if the event is postponed?
If we receive ample feedback about an event date we have planned, with people strongly requesting a new date (possibly because of other events happening on the same date that we didn't know about, for example), we may postpone an event. If we postpone an event, we will automatically move your ticket to the new event date. With that said, we know that the new date may not work for some who have already purchased tickets, so we will refund your tickets upon request if the new date doesn't work for you. Just let us know by replying to the email we send notifying about the date postponement, or by reaching out to us via our Contact Us page. We will make the situation right for you and your family.
Are there Christian, faith-based homeschool dances in North Carolina?
Yes. NC Local Events hosts Christian, faith-based, homeschool-centered proms, homecomings, and father-daughter dances across North Carolina, in both the Triad (Winston-Salem, Kernersville, and Greensboro) and the Triangle (Raleigh and Durham). Most dances are open to all homeschool students ages 14 to 19; see our event pages for the next event's date, venue, and tickets.
