Homeschool Prom in North Carolina
Formal homeschool proms across North Carolina, in the Triad and the Triangle, for homeschool students and their friends.
Homeschool students across North Carolina do not have a single school to host prom, so families create proms of their own. NC Local Events has hosted formal homeschool proms across the state since 2023, in both the Triad and the Triangle, giving students the same milestone spring night their public and private school friends get, in an environment parents helped shape and trust.
What is a homeschool prom?
A homeschool prom is a formal spring dance for homeschool students, held the way a traditional school prom is but organized by a homeschool community instead of a single school. Students dress up, dance to clean music, take photos with friends, and celebrate the year together. NC Local Events runs ours across North Carolina each spring.
How a homeschool prom is different
A school prom belongs to one school and its junior and senior classes. A homeschool prom is built by parents and homeschool families, so it welcomes students from many co-ops, churches, and neighborhoods rather than a single student body. That wider reach means new friends as well as familiar ones, and it means the music, dress code, chaperoning, and atmosphere are set by the families who attend.
Across the state
Where to find a North Carolina homeschool prom
NC Local Events holds homeschool proms across North Carolina, in two regions: the Triad (Winston-Salem, Kernersville, and Greensboro) and the Triangle (the Raleigh and Durham area). Past proms have been held at venues like the Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden in Kernersville, Adaumont Farm near Trinity, Bryan Park in Greensboro, and Carver Lake Venue near Prospect Hill in the Triangle.
If you are looking for a homeschool prom near you in the Triad or the Triangle, our events are open to students from across the region, so families travel in from neighboring towns. Our 2026 prom, Enchanted Starlight, ran in both regions, and you can see more in our past proms and dances. Homeschool homecoming is the fall companion to prom: read about homeschool homecoming in North Carolina.
Who can attend
NC Local Events proms are open to all homeschool students and their friends, usually ages 14 to 19. Students do not have to be homeschooled to come along with a homeschool friend. Families travel from across the Triad, the Triangle, and the wider North Carolina homeschool community, so the room is full of new faces as well as familiar ones.
What to expect at the dance
Expect a formal evening with a professional DJ playing clean, radio-edit music, chaperones and security throughout the night, snacks and cold drinks, a photo booth, themed decor, and a clear, modest dress code. Recent proms have used early-bird pricing, generally in the $50 to $70 per-student range, with the lower price ending on a set date. The exact price, venue, and age range are always listed on the current event page. For how pricing and buying work, see our homeschool prom tickets page.
The dress code is formal. Gentlemen wear a suit or tuxedo with a button-down shirt tucked in, and ladies wear modest formal wear that meets our neckline, back, and length guidelines. You can read the full dress code on our policies page.
Faith-based by design
NC Local Events is a Christian, faith-based organization, and our proms reflect that in practical ways: clean music with no profanity, a modest dress code, chaperones and security at every event, and a warm, respectful atmosphere parents can feel good about. Students of any background are welcome.
